Getting to Charlottesville

We call Charlottesville home (for now!) & we're so excited to share one of our favorite places with all of you

Flying In

The closest airport is Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport (CHO), located about 20 minutes from downtown. Richmond (RIC), Dulles (IAD), and Reagan National (DCA) are also convenient options, though you'll likely need a rental car.

Taking the Train

Amtrak offers direct service to Charlottesville from several East Coast cities, including Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and New York. The station is located just minutes from downtown (and right in our backyard!).

Driving

Charlottesville is an easy drive from many East Coast destinations and parking is available at all hotels.

Where to stay

We've reserved hotel blocks at The Omni Hotel and The Draftsman Hotel, both steps from Downtown Charlottesville, with booking links provided below.

You're welcome to stay wherever you'd like, but we recommend staying near Downtown Charlottesville so you'll be close to all of the weekend festivities. While our wedding will take place in Crozet, VA, transportation to and from the venue will be provided from The Omni.

Our story

Jack and Julia met in Charlottesville while working on their PhDs in the same cardiac MRI research lab at UVA. In fact, the very first MRI Jack ever took was of Julia’s heart—which feels pretty fitting in hindsight.

At the time, Julia was in the midst of her MD/PhD training, and Jack had recently made the unexpected move back to Charlottesville from California. What started as a friendship eventually turned into something more: an easy, joyful love that, looking back, felt inevitable. Jack brought the levity, Julia kept things on schedule, and together they bonded over a shared curiosity, countless adventures with their dog Louie, and just enough discussion of MRI physics and epicardial adipose tissue to keep things interesting.

After a mini-golf first date in 2023 (where Julia let Jack win by one point), I guess you could say the rest was pretty much history.

Today, they still call Charlottesville home, but not for much longer. Shortly after the wedding, the three of them—Jack, Julia, and Lou—will be packing up for their next adventure together. The destination is still to be determined, but Lou has assured them he's flexible as long as there are treats involved.

Frequently asked questions

Still have questions? Feel free to reach out to Jack or Julia - we're happy to help!

Where should I stay?

We recommend staying in downtown Charlottesville so you're close to the festivities. We have hotel blocks available, but guests are welcome to stay wherever they'd like. Please see the Travel & Lodging section for more information.

What airport should I fly into?

The closest airport is Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport (CHO). Other options include Richmond International Airport (RIC), Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). Please see the Travel & Lodging section for more information.

Will transportation to the venue be provided?

Yes! Since the venue is about 35-40 minutes from downtown Charlottesville, we'll have buses running to and from the wedding. We recommend taking advantage of the shuttles, as Uber and Lyft will not be reliable options that far outside of town. If you'd rather drive, parking will be available at the venue. More details will be provided closer to the date.

What should I wear?

Can I bring my children?

We love your little ones, but we've decided to keep our wedding day an adults-only celebration. Children are more than welcome at our welcome event the evening before. If childcare arrangements would prevent you from attending, please let us know.
